build v6.0
The short version: Pencilbox is a free set of browser tools, your files never leave your device, we collect nothing about you, and the tools are provided as-is. The longer version follows.

What Pencilbox is

Pencilbox is a collection of free utilities that run entirely in your web browser — for working with PDFs, images, audio, video, text, and more. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, simply do not use the site.

Your files stay on your device. Every tool does its work locally in your browser — nothing you open, drop, or create with a tool is ever uploaded, seen, or stored by us.

Privacy

Pencilbox has no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising cookies. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal data, because none is ever sent to us.

Your browser may keep a few preferences on your own device — such as your language, theme, favorite tools, and recently used tools — using local storage. These never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Because the site is a web app that works offline, your browser also caches the site's own files locally so pages open without a connection.

Feedback

If you choose to use the feedback button, we store only what it says on the card: your message, which tool you were on, the feedback type, your interface language, and the date. No IP address, browser details, or any other identifying information is recorded. Please do not include personal information in a feedback message; if you do, you consent to us storing it with the message.

Third-party downloads

A few heavyweight tools (such as text recognition and background removal) download an open-source engine from a public content network the first time you use them. Your files are still processed locally — only the engine itself is downloaded, never your content. The site's fonts and code are served from Pencilbox itself, with no third-party font, analytics, or tracking services.

Free, as-is, no warranty

Pencilbox is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. A tool may have bugs, produce imperfect results, or be changed or removed at any time.

Always keep your original files. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site — including lost or corrupted files, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential damages.

Acceptable use

Use the tools only for lawful purposes and only with content you have the right to use. You must not use the site to infringe copyright, violate anyone's privacy, or process unlawful material — responsibility for what you process lies entirely with you. Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or abuse the site or its feedback service.

Your content, our site

Everything you create with the tools is yours — we claim no rights over your files or outputs, and we never see them. The Pencilbox name, design, and site code remain the property of their author; the site's source code is open source under its published license.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date above always shows the current version, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
