Dupes
find identical files
build v6.0
Point Dupes at a folder and it finds files with identical contents — matched by a cryptographic hash, not just name or size — then shows each duplicate set and how much space you'd reclaim. It's strictly read-only: nothing is moved, renamed or deleted. Nothing is uploaded either; the folder is read on your device.
Chrome or Edge only. This tool uses the File System Access API to read a folder you pick. Firefox and Safari don't support it yet — open this page in Chrome or Edge.

Files are grouped by size first, and only same-size files are hashed with SHA-256, so a scan is fast and a "duplicate" means genuinely identical bytes. Very large files (over 512 MB) are compared by size only and flagged as such. Reclaimable space counts every copy after the first in each set. Everything runs on your device — no file contents ever leave it.
